Sustainable Internet Marketing

One might think that an SEO and Web Design guy would get most of his business from the internet. Not true, for me.

When I launched my business in 2004, I was lucky enough to stumble on a couple of fantastic networking groups. I have literally built my business based on my participation in these groups.

Networking Groups come in many shapes and flavors. The main purpose of any group is for members to meet each other, learn about their businesses and then talk ‘em up! It’s like Word of Mouth advertising with a plan!

Here in Portland, I belong to two groups. You are welcome to join me as a guest at either one. Coming as a guest is the best way to find out how a networking group works and to decide if it is a good fit for you. Plus, when you come as a guest, you get to meet some quality people, hand out some business cards and generally spout off about your business. At the least, you get to hand out some cards and meet some good people. At best, you may find a comfy group that becomes your sales force!

You may want to check out a group near you. Honestly, they are all good. The basic concept is so simple that no one really gets it wrong. If you would like to be my guest at the two groups I frequent, there is some info and a form below.

River City LeTip. LeTip is a national organization that promotes member businesses via a tested system emphasizing attendance, tips and membership. If you like a little structure, LeTip is the one for you. My River City chapter has won several awards and is generally recognized for combining the structure of LeTip with a “fun and relaxing” energy. I served as President of the group for two years. Here are the details:

  • Meet almost every Friday at 7:00 am.
  • We meet at the Eastmoreland Golf Course Club House.
    • 2425 SE Bybee, Portland Oregon, 97206
  • Be ready to give a 30-second intro and a separate 30-second commercial.
  • Bring about 40 business cards.
  • Bring an appetite. We serve a full breakfast at every meeting.
  • This is an exclusive category group, so you should fill out the form to make sure we do not have a conflict.

PABA is the Portland Area Business Association. It is the GLBT Chamber of Commerce for Portland Oregon. The group welcomes all people, regardless of sexual identity. PABA has four networking groups that meet in various places. I frequent the one listed below, but you may want to contact me about the others. The groups are called Biz Builders.

  • Meet on Wednesdays at noon, except the second Wednesday of the Month.
  • We meet at Urban Grind Coffee on NE 22nd and Oregon in Portland.
  • Be ready with a 60-second commercial.
  • Bring about 40 business cards.
  • Anyone may join the group as a guest or regular, regardless of business category.
  • Other Biz Builders and Other PABA Regular Events:
    • Tuesday morning Biz Builders in Beaverton
    • Thursday morning Biz Builders on Missippi Ave
    • Thursday noon Biz Builders in Vancouver Washington
    • Luncheon at Kells every second Wednesday
    • After Hours in various locations every third Wednesday at around 5:30 pm
    • Other special events.

Fill out the form if you are interested and I will make contact with you!
