Part X - Start Planning For Change
Part X - Start Planning For Change
Even if the U.S., Europe and Japan switched off and mothballed every power plant and car today, we would still be facing perilous climate change by 2070. If we do nothing, we’ll be there by 2040.
Popular environmentalists still rail that we must make change, but they refuse to accept the possibility of some sort of scientific “earth surgery.” Ideas are starting to spring up - some a little off - that we could somehow alter our environment to save the planet. Geo-engineering ideas include giant mirrors in space, assited migration of hapless birds and bees and infusions of special dust in the atmosphere. It seems crazy and dangerous, but we might need to direct our attentions to drawing up the fourth-quarter hail mary play that may be our only chance to win this game.

About this series: Wired On The Environment
A few issues ago, Wired Magazine, the monthly Bible of forward-thinking geeks like me, brazenly sought to debunk some of the strongest-held tenets of environmentalism. Embracing that what matters most is cutting carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions is the most important weapon to save the environment, Wired offered several viewpoints that seem to fly in the face of “popular environmentalism.” This series of ten mini-articles shares those thoughts and gives you a chance to respond.

Their building is the only privately-held LEED certified building in Oregon City and their entire operation, from Ink to Paper is green. They will deliver your printing anywhere in the metro area in a vehicle that has a 90% chance of being more ecologically-sound than yours. Minuteman has set a goal to have zero landfill contributions by the end of the year.
